Tonight is the last night for a very unique experience from Cask Social. Although it is the last Beer Dinner on the calendar, we have it on good information that there will be more, different variations and some exciting stuff in the future.

For a restaurant that promotes, “Eat, Drink and Be Social,” they are putting their money where their mouth is with their, Craft A’fare Beer Dinner.

I was invited out to experience the pairing of four different 3 Daughter’s Brewing beers with chef inspired dishes. The four courses kicked off with a salad, a scallop dish, short ribs, and finished with berry cobbler. To say the least, I left full. Luckily, I got to bring a guest to share the meal with! IMG_7935

During most meals I don’t lean towards beer, however when the brewer and chef get together to craft a four course meal, I am in! It was great to hear from 3 Daughters, the story behind the beers and why they paired each with the specific foods. For instance, the Wild Mushroom Salad (Goat Cheese, Arugula & Champagne Vinaigrette) paired smoothly with the light flavored St. Pete Beach Blonde Ale. Both paired well for a great start and the St Pete Beach Blonde ended up being my favorite of the night. Cask Social South Tampa

I am not one for seafood as you may already know, however I make some exceptions. Scallops happen to be one of them. Don’t ask me why, I just had some good experiences with them. It was safe to say that these Pan Roasted Day Boat Scallops didn’t disappoint. They may have been overshadowed by the Fried Green Tomatoes in the dish, but I was ok with it. IMG_7946

The next course was by far my favorite. Braised Short Rib is always a good choice especially when served with truffle mash and asparagus. The flavors were robust and filled my palette with every bite. The Tango Yankee Wheat Ale was a flavorful addition to the plate. In fact, the brewer also shared a story behind the limited run of this beer. “Tango Yankee” is actually the phonetic for “TY” of thank you and an ode to the three daughters grandfather. The proceeds from the sales of this beer go towards the Navy SEAL Foundation. IMG_7950

Although most would think the dessert is the grande finale, by this point I was ready to roll out of Cask. The butter pecan ice cream that rested on top of the hot berry cobbler was just amazing! I found out that I am not a huge “cobbler” guy myself, however I would return for the homemade ice cream any day.
